SkatefreshAshaQ&A with Asha: How can you improve forward crossovers? Simple exercise for inline & quad skaters
from SkatefreshAsha on 20 Dec 2022

This question from @Sarafricadelsur about how to improve crossovers, reveals what a tricky and problematic skill they often are.Too often skaters are trying forward crossovers far too early in their skating journey, before they have acquired the necessary pre-requisite skills. One of these is the ability to glide on one skate for at least 2 seconds. Being able to do this allows you to regroup after the crossover without being in a hurry, without clipping the skate & without getting stuck with both feet crossed (there’s nothing worse than that).Being able to glide on 1 skate for 2-3 seconds is a skill that will help almost any move you are trying to learn. Without building this core gliding skills base, you’ll struggle with skating. Part of being able to glide on one skate is being able to “consciously control your edges” and this is needed in every single manoeuvre on inline skates. If you want to learn forward crossovers using my full online video lesson (with all progressions), it’s part of the “How to Skate – Intermediate” online course; is Asha Skatefresh?
