64 Days Learnt

The Contrast Collective64 Days Learnt
from The Contrast Collective on 20 Feb 2015

It’s been 3 years since we set off for a 2 and a half month trip to North West America & Canada to indulge in National Parks, Wildlife & Culture. We’ve put together a selection of our favourite moments that will stick with us for a lifetime. These moments to us, are not only times learnt but are times that will remind us that through travelling you learn a lot about yourself and others.

Starling Murmuration in Brighton – February 2015

The Contrast CollectiveStarling Murmuration in Brighton – February 2015
from The Contrast Collective on 17 Feb 2015

A few shots from our recent experience of the Starling Murmaration in Brighton.

Nobody really knows why Starlings do this. Some say it’s for protection. Others say it’s to communicate to other starlings that their roost is nearby. What do you think?

LYRICS:
As the clouds drew, so the rains came, turning the dust to dirt.
And the rocks jut and the banks block, but the river it goes right on.
Slog through, skirt hitched, knee-deep in mud.
We’ll be there, covered in earth, ‘cause we’re the people who live, and we will…

Dig Your Fingers In

The wind rose, swirling and lashed its frenzied whip.
Its coil, a gyre and we were in the eye.
The rumble, a rattle of everything shaking apart.
And in the middle of this trembling world, she turned to me and said, don’t sway…

Dig Your Fingers In

So the storm fell, soaking and slammed its mighty head.
A ragged squall that lights the sky and drowns the earth.
Keep steady, set hard; let your hands grow calm and cool.
And lift your glass, your fists to whatever lies on the road, she said…

Dig Your Fingers In!
