Back in February, the crew and I ventured over to Europe for Winterclash, followed by a week of street skating in Barcelona. Battling the same Winterclash flu you probably caught, and some lingering jet lag, we arrived in Barca feeling hella dusty but excited to finally see what this infamous skate wonderland had to offer… and it did not disappoint!Featuring: James McErlain, Jamie Sims, Nat Odgen & Vashti Rufus WilsonAs for myself, my leg was bruised from knee to toes & twice the normal size after tearing the muscle of my shin (fun!) at winterclash the week before, So I didn’t put my skates on once the entire time! Still, Im grateful I was able to walk around, explore, share some epic memories with my best mates and film them getting jiggy with it in the streets!Here’s what we managed to capture during our time there – Went for a different vibe with the music on this one but hope y’all dig it! Back at it again, hotter than a beanie on a hat rack. Falling short of 2 fast 2 furious, Mantra 2 is all about family. Skate family is important and taking a couple of weeks to work on a project together reminds us that even if we get stuck, our skate bro will always be there to help. During this time we push ourselves by taking on a better mantra towards skating. I’d love to write a big spiel about these clips, because 2022 was a wild one; but truth be told I don’t really know where to begin.A lot of big changes in my personal life; with a fair share of heart warming moments, balanced out by some stressful heart-wrenching ones.This video is purely a collection of loose clips I’ve collected throughout 2022. Most of which were on the backside of an injury, or me just coming out of those post injury spooks.My skating in 2022 felt very stop-starty… just when I would find a rhythm, I’d get injured; mostly because my mind was probably elsewhere. I put a lot of unnecessary pressure on myself to skate a certain way, or at a certain level, only to find that treating skating like that left me feeling nothing but down when I couldn’t perform to my own expectations; or frustrated I couldn’t perform for the fleeting moments an opportunity to actually get a clip would arise.In a weird full circle, I ended the year with the same outlook on skating that I started with – there’s literally no pressure to be anything but myself. It’s fun. It’s creative. It’s pure freedom. I can do it any way I want to, and it’s exactly how I make it… a vision, that I sadly lost somewhere throughout 2022. Depressive mindset’s suck.
