2001 Chris Larsen was a local filmer that helped me film for my part in VG22 and my part in his DVD SLC2 at the same time. This is one of the days where we were able to stack a bunch of clips. It felt like a successful day for both of us. It was nice being 19 with little responsibilities and tons of time to skate. I just needed to find people that could join me. This day was mostly a solo session with Chris filming. I clocked in/clocked out for skating!

In 2002 while roaming around the campus The University of Utah I discovered this drop rail to a big 180 curve to little down rail. I got the courage to jump on a backside royale and try and ride the curve out, but since no one had ever done it before the rail was sticky and we didn’t have any wax on us. The second time I tried a topsoul and again didn’t have wax to finish the whole rail out. It felt cool, but unfinished! Later that year I took Tory Treseder there and there was a big dumpster at the bottom where you start the curve and he decided it was no problem and rode a soul down the whole thing! The next year I finally decided it was time to finish this beast for my second regime video Hot102.r. One of the best feeling rides I have ever experienced!

2002 Back Backside Curse Process “SLC2″From the DVD “SLC2″Here is the process of what it took me to land the back backslide to wrap ao top star down the infamous “Curse” rail in SLC Utah. This was the first time I had done this trick. I had already done it frontside and really liked how it looked when done backside. While filming for my part in VG22 I went out with a local filmer Chris Larsen who was filming SLC2 with another local filmer Roger Emmer. He and I went out for a day of filming just him and I and we clipped up. This was one of the first clips we got that day. If you watch both my VG part and SLC2 you’ll see a lot of tricks that were used twice.

2008 and Im just coming back from a head injury that I thought I would never skate again. I quit for 9months thinking that was it, but soon realized it was killing me more to let go of something I loved so much so quickly, then skating would if I changed the way I did it. I started wearing a helmet and shifted my focus. I wanted to enjoy the skills I have acquired from all the years of practicing. I went back to my roots and started skating the things I loved and stopped chasing the hammer type tricks. This session was so fun and just a good reminder of where I came from 10 years ago on this very same rail. I was fortunate to have friends around to support such a decision to get back on skates and help me document it all.
