SkatefreshAshaHow to Wizard Skate Tutorial: Forward Closed Lion (or Forwards Outside 3-Turn) Lazer Coaching

Tired of getting stuck learning #wizardskating moves? Want to try a structured tested pathway? https://skatefresh.com/learn-wizard-skating-online/In this video I’m coaching Lawrence from @entropy_skating to improve his Toe Roll assisted Forward Outside edge 3-Turns (or Forward Closed Lions in Wizard vocab).Using the assistance of the toe wheel allows you to progress in learning the Lion without jumping to the significantly more difficult one leg clean Lion too quickly. The clean Lion is much more challenging and creates tension and anxiety when attempted too early. Over time the amount of weight on the assisting toe can be gradually reduced until it’s naturally not needed any more. I call the Assisted Lions “Cheetas” because there was no name for them and another animal seemed logical (although “assisted 3-Turn” makes more logical sense). If you’re confused by the naming of Wizard moves, this Blog post explains the origin and why I use both the original names and the newer Wizard names.https://skatefresh.com/what-is-wizard-skating-and-how-close-is-it-to-artistic-skating/Lawrence is displaying the common problems that usually come up when inline skaters teach themselves Wizard moves, which are;Lack of entry curve into the 3-turn / Lion.180 degree ‘Flip’ on the toe wheel (instead of 90 degree rock to the front of the rocker).Lack of upper body rotation before the transition.Lack of correct knee bend before & after the transition.Looking down with the head which creates upper body lean.Lack of fluency with the exit backwards Toe Roll position (due to the heel in the air not being vertically upright).Forcing the Lion due to imperfect technique. Most inline skaters learning how to Wizard skate end up forcing moves because their technique is lacking. When something is technically correct, it will feel effortless & smooth.Make your #wizardskatingpractice fun and productive rather than frustrating. Copying full moves isn’t the safest way to learn new manoeuvres. Learning challenging skills (like Lions) using progressions allows you to build the components of each move, piece by piece. This will highlight to you where your gaps are in terms of edge control, one legged balance & cadence timing. The Skatefresh Wizard Skating Online Course gives you the pathway to succeed and create your own Wizard skating flows & combos.https://skatefresh.com/learn-wizard-skating-online/WHO IS ASHA SKATEFRESH?
