The New Local – Moodiesburn Skatepark (Wheel Scene)

Wheel SceneThe New Local – Moodiesburn Skatepark
from Wheel Scene on 14 Jun 2024

Scotland’s newest outdoor skatepark, Moodiesburn Skatepark, opened about a month ago and it’s only a 15-minute drive from my house, so I had to go and check it out. Despite the fact the concrete has barely set, it’s already got some interesting graffiti, such as ACAB and an artistic depiction of a boaby – the classics. It’s not that big, but it’s extremely well built, has a range of obstacles and you can do some nice lines there. In fact, if you have the stamina, you can just keep going round and round doing trick after trick!Watch the video to see how I got on and leave a comment if you’d like to see more videos documenting Scotland’s never-ending list of outdoor concrete skateparks.Watch more videos like this on Patreon – https://www.patreon.com/wheelscene

Entente Diridari V3 – the best flat frame just got better (Wheel Scene)

Wheel SceneEntente Diridari V3 – the best flat frame just got better
from Wheel Scene on 22 May 2024

The Entente Diridari V3 is the latest edition of an already brilliant frame. The new updates include a lower ride height, so the maximum wheel size is now 58mm instead of 60mm, it’s now made with a harder plastic and the outside frame walls have been slightly widened to make them even more long-lasting. I have loved the past two pairs of these that I bought, but I decided to put these through their paces at various skateparks and street spots for a few weeks to see if they held up and if they felt any different to the previous versions. I was also curious to know if I still enjoyed them as much after trying various other great flat frames over the past 12 months. One Day on Echo Skates – Echo Verve Versus Six Skate Spots (Wheel Scene)

Wheel SceneOne Day on Echo Skates – Echo Verve Versus Six Skate Spots
from Wheel Scene on 19 May 2024

I skated the Echo Verve for an entire day at various locations in order to give it a thorough workout and see if it could handle the damage inflicted on it by a 14 stone, or 90kg, rollerblader. I skated six spots over the course of 7.5 hours, captured over 60 tricks on camera, not to mention a few falls. I also talk about various aspects of the skate, things I like and don’t like, as well as pondering Echo Skates’ place in the aggressive market and community.Let me know what you think of this format and if you would like to see more videos in this style in the future. If you would like to see a bunch of exclusive videos that are now on the YouTube channel, join the Wheel Scene Patreon – https://www.patreon.com/wheelscene

Echo Skates – First Impressions, fit check and first session (Wheel Scene)

Wheel SceneEcho Skates – First Impressions, fit check and first session
from Wheel Scene on 15 May 2024

Echo Skates is the new brand from Stateside Skates, the company previously responsible for budget entry level brand Anarchy. This time round, they have set out to create something aimed at the core audience of aggressive skaters rather than trying to appeal to first-time buyer. Echo debuted their new skate at Winterclash 2024, a new mould made from 30% recycled plastic and featuring a unique X-shape mounting system – and it certainly caused a lot of discussion…although many people commented on the skate looking quite similar to another boot currently on the market. In this video I talk through the various features and offer my thoughts on the aspects of the skate I like and the parts I am less impressed with. There is also some footage from the first session on the stock setup. Oh, and I reveal the name of the skate. No, it’s not just called Echo!Join the Wheel Scene Patreon to see lots of videos that are not available on the YouTube channel.https://www.patreon.com/wheelscene

Platform Episode 80 – Alex Sams (Wheel Scene)

Wheel ScenePlatform Episode 80 – Alex Sams
from Wheel Scene on 10 May 2024

Seattle resident Alex Same talks to us about being part of the excellent Chance of Rain video series that was created by Carter le Blank and Derek Brown. He also discusses what it was like working on Illegal Smiles with Josiah Blee, Jake Dotson and the rest of his highly skilled crew. In addition to this, we chat about how he got hooked up with Deal With It SF, TNEC and most recently Blank. Alex has a very interesting approach to skating. The majority of the spots he is interested in are not your typical session obstacles, but one-hit wonders that you get one trick on and then you move on. In many cases, just rolling away from the spot is good enough because he regularly takes on rough, nasty, unforgiving and downright scary setups…and he seems to thrive on it!If you could like to support this channel, join the Wheel Scene Patreon for lots of exclusive videos that are not featured on the YouTube channel.https://www.patreon.com/wheelscene
