1997 and Real Ride skatepark opens their doors and starts running events every couple months. I entered the beginner division and ended up winning. You could hear my peers (the expert division) in the background yelling “bump” because they thought I should have been in the intermediate division. My progress was moving fast and this would be the last time I was in the beginner division as I thought if you won, you’re ready for the next division.
