from Thisissoul on 23 Jan 2019

Urban Masters is a Dutch Aggressive Inline Skate movie from the late 90’s directed by Steffen Haars.

The film features skating from:
Gers Pardoel,
Steffen Haars,
Tim haars,
Huub Smit,
Jay Jay Boske,
Sven Boekhorst,
Randy Abels,
Remy Cadier,
Steven Tonnon

Aggressive Inline skating emerged in the VHS era.
In these old video’s you can really see the progression of the sport.
The first inline skate video was Dare to Air, made in 1993.
In this video the skaters are using 72mm recreational skates and they can barely grind.
And a few years later the skaters are doing insane combo’s on REAL aggressive skates!

We created a movement called #angryyouth, all about showing the roots of our culture.
We do three things:
– We digitalize old VHS tapes and we will put them on http://Angryyouthcinema.com so that you can watch them there.
– The physical VHS tapes will be available for purchase on Thisissoul.com.
– And once every month we will get together in a creative studio in Amsterdam with a group of skate enthusiasts. Specially for this occasion we created a little cinema and a bar in his studio.
Each month we screen one of the tapes and drink beers afterwards.

Check our This is Soul Facebook for more information about the upcoming Angry Youth Cinema events! Entrance is free!

Friends, Danny Aldridge and Daniel Ilabaca, view their environment in a very similar way. They both see their surroundings as a playground. Their approach is different though. Danny’s footwear of choice are the RB 80’s, while Daniel prefers to keep on his street shoes. Together they hit some massive spots in Barcelona and manage to create an impressive flow with some tag team stunts. In the end, Daniel straps on a pair Twister Edge skates and sessions a huge gap with Danny.
