Thursday Night Skate

New York City — Every Thursday a big chunk of the inline community gather to cruise around the city. The meet up is at Union Square and from there the group treks to three designated spots, coordinated with the LOKE app, where seasoned skaters can do tricks while some new to the fun can watch and cheer. This time around; hosts, Keyre of Blader Brand and Adonis of New York Skate Series, threw a mini competition during the session and afterwards we all ended the night at a local bar. Good times as always. If you’re in town be sure to tag along for the next one. Cheers!

A-Town Stomp 2018: Number 9

Atlanta, Georgia – June 16th, 2018. First thing’s first: They skated a BOAT! I flew down to Atlanta to see what the Stomp was all about. The Starnes brothers have been putting together this event for the past nine years and what a good time it is. Southern hospitality is real. I got there a day early and watched the crew setup the skate boat at Arches Brewery. After a few beers I felt right at home. The day was eventful and ended at the Starnes house. The next day was brutally hot and humid. We met up at noon at Old Fourth Ward skatepark where Sandwiches were handed out. Water and Clif bars were stuffed in coolers and at the ready for anyone who needed them throughout the day. The turnout was great and so was the skating. Montre drove 3.5 hours from Charlotte, NC to the first location and went straight to business taking the win. After the comp–the new Cayenne Project film FORMOSA premiered at the brewery and afterwards we all went back to the Starnes house to celebrate. It was a short trip but definitely one to remember. Live From the Boogie Down

July 14th, 2017 — Bronx native Ray Mendez organized and co-produced Live From The Boogie Down at the Bruckner Building in Mott Haven. It was a collective event where artists showcased their work on canvas, on people, on the dance floor, on the mic, on instruments, on the turntable, and lastly, on skates. Nothing but love and support all around the venue which in turn lead to good vibes and good times. CHEERS!

Action Figures: Ryan Loewy – The Big Book of Portrait Ideas

Episode 01 – I spent one day in the winter with Ryan Loewy and followed him around, shooting the finishing touches on his “Top 5: Sean Grossman” piece for Be-Mag as well as some bonus shots of Jesus Medina, in the Bronx guided by Malik Ashby.

Ryan puts in alot of time photographing, interviewing, and creating articles for blading content. You can find him at just about every skate event and video premiere, or organizing sessions for photo ops here in NYC. This little behind the scenes glimpse is to give you an idea of his workflow process and to hopefully inspire some of you to create some new content of your own.
