Dare to Air export

Dare To Air is the first inline skating video that features people grinding! It is made by Groove Productions in 1993.

The film features skating from:
Rene Hulgreen,
Arlo Eisenberg,
Chris Edwards,
Ryan Jacklone,
Cesar Mora,
Brian Smith,
Matt Mantz,
B Hardin,
Neda Gane

Aggressive Inline skating emerged in the VHS era.
In these old video’s you can really see the progression of the sport.
The first inline skate video was Dare to Air, made in 1993.
In this video the skaters are using 72mm recreational skates and they can barely grind.
And a few years later the skaters are doing insane combo’s on REAL aggressive skates!

We created a movement called #angryyouth, all about showing the roots of our culture.
We do three things:
– We digitalize old VHS tapes and we will put them on http://Angryyouthcinema.com so that you can watch them there.
– The physical VHS tapes will be available for purchase on Thisissoul.com.
– And once every month we will get together in a creative studio in Amsterdam with a group of skate enthusiasts. Specially for this occasion we created a little cinema and a bar in his studio.
Each month we screen one of the tapes and drink beers afterwards.

Urban Masters is a Dutch Aggressive Inline Skate movie from the late 90’s directed by Steffen Haars.

Randy Abels,
Remy Cadier,
Steven Tonnon

VHS Tapes – The unknown treasures of aggressive inline skating

Hi guys! Welcome back at the TIS vlog

Aggressive Inline skating emmerged in the VHS era.
In these old video’s you can really see the progression of the sport.
The first inline skate video was Dare to Air, made in 1993.
In this video the skaters are using 72mm recreational skates and they can barely grind.
And a few years later the skaters are doing insane combo’s on REAL aggressive skates!

After Dare to Air the Hoax series and the Video Groove series came up.
They had a big influence on our culture.
Because this was the only way skaters got to see the new tricks that were invented by pro’s.
In a world without Youtube and websites, big brands like Senate, Roces and MindGame made team video’s as their main marketing tool.

Not a lot of people know that there are also a few Dutch video tapes.
Fun fact about those is that a lot of the guys starring these movies are now pretty famous over here.
Such as the rapper Gers Pardoel, Director Steffen Haars, actors Tim haars and Huub Smit, and presentor Jay Jay Boske.
They are all starring in the movie Urban Masters.

Skatelessons for adults – Vlog

Onze volwassenen cursus is gericht op het veilig leren skaten in het verkeer. Remmen, scherpe bochtjes, tramrails en stoeprandjes komen aan bod. Door eerst te leren vallen krijg je daarna het zelfvertrouwen om je skills te kunnen verbeteren. We beginnen heel rustig en bouwen in hele kleine stapjes het niveau omhoog. De locatie is de Thisissoul winkel in de vd Pekstraat. 117. Goede inline skates en bescherming kunnen bij ons geleend worden. De les is altijd op een zaterdag van 10:30 tot 12:00.
