Valo V – Soichiro Kanashima (Wheel Scene » Wheel Scene | Wheel Scene)

from Wheel Scene » Wheel Scene | Wheel Scene on 16 Dec 2015

Valo have decided to give you a treat for the eyes by uploading Soichiro Kanashima‘s section from their last team video V. The Japanese style master throws in loads of tricks switch and natural, clever switch-ups, ballsy drops and smooth gaps. Essentially, he is an all-rounder that looks far too comfortable on skates. Envy is a terrible thing. The video was filmed and edited by Ivan Narez. Read our interview with Ivan Narez HERE. Watch more videos of Soichiro Kanashima HERE. Watch more Valo videos HERE.

Introducing: Hunter Grimm (Wheel Scene » Wheel Scene | Wheel Scene)

Introducing: Hunter Grimm
from Wheel Scene » Wheel Scene | Wheel Scene on 8 Dec 2015

With the addition of Hunter Grimm, the number of Razors riders hailing from Texas is rapidly expanding to the point where they could form their own team! As you will see from his introduction edit by Anthony Medina, Hunter is making a claim for the throne of the Lone Star State’s MVP. Texas is literally overflowing with talent right now. A stellar cast that consists of Josh Glowicki, Fritz Peitzner, Mason Richard et al has been strengthened by the emergence of new Razors riders Jarrod Banning and now it seems like Hunter Grimm is about to make his presence known. In fact, Texas is so stacked with skilled bladers that it appears some are leaving for fresher different pastures as Jarrod Banning and Hunter Grimm have recently relocated to Denver Colorado to join the likes of Howie Bennett, Cody Lampman and the productive Scumpire fellas. Could Colorado rapidly be becoming the new KCMO? But, wait, who the hell is Hunter Grimm? Until recently, all we knew about him was that he has a name you would expect to find in a Hollywood blockbuster and he stacked some brilliant clips in Dustin Spengler’s Useless Concepts, holding his own against fellow cast […]

Sven Boekhorst Discusses Cityhopper World (Wheel Scene » Wheel Scene | Wheel Scene)

Sven Boekhorst Discusses Cityhopper World
from Wheel Scene » Wheel Scene | Wheel Scene on 18 Nov 2015

Sven Boekhorst‘s blading accolades pretty much speak for themselves. He has won numerous major competitions throughout his career, including multiple X Games gold medals, and in 2000 he accomplished the illusive triple crown by taking gold at X Games, Gravity Games and the ASA World Championships. In fact, it would probably be easier to list the international events that he hasn’t won in his 20-plus years of professional blading. Alongside his stunning competitive career, the Dutchman features as a character in video game Aggressive Inline and in 2012 he received his long overdue debut pro skate from boot sponsor Rollerblade. He has also been actively doing his part to create more exposure for blading with his urban competition series Mind The Gap. Boekhorst has taken a step back from competitive rollerblading, but his professionalism and productivity are at an all time high. The same year as his pro skate release, Boekhorst unveiled Cityhopper, an ambitious video project that encompassed 30 famous landmarks across the Netherlands and, combined with a portable Red Bull ramp, created some truly epic moments in blading history. Two years later, Boekhorst raised the bar once again with Cityhopper Europe, which visited London, Paris, Barcelona, Brussels and […]

Where Are They Now? Eitan Kramer (Wheel Scene » Wheel Scene | Wheel Scene)

Where Are They Now? Eitan Kramer
from Wheel Scene » Wheel Scene | Wheel Scene on 5 Nov 2015

Former professional rollerbladers pop up in the most random of places. Hoax star Brian Smith can be seen rubbing shoulders with Hollywood celebrities now that he is a respected fashion photographer, Senate co-founder Brooke Howard Smith is a television host in his native New Zealand and Tyler Shields is rapidly becoming a cult icon in the art world due to his bizarre and sometimes controversial creations. However, it was still a pleasant surprise to click on a Kickstarter project for an interesting fitness equipment idea, click on the promotional video and find that the co-creator of the brand is none other than former vert skater Eitan Kramer. In the 16 years since he stepped down from professional blading it does not appear that he has aged much at all. In fact, the only notable physical difference is that he has put on a few kilos in pure muscle. The New York City blading legend was a professional for Roces, Gap and Senate at the height of his career in the late nineties and produced many video parts over the years, including a section in latter’s seminal debut team video Day Of The Rope. He also travelled all over the world, […]
