SkatefreshAshaWizard Skating Backward Fakie Gazelle: description & explanation of the entry cusp vs straight line
from SkatefreshAsha on 10 Jul 2023

In this short video I show you the backward to forwards 2 footed Gazelle. This is an essential move to master as you begin Wizard skating. The fakie gazelle needs competent backward parallel turns in scissor positions as this constitutes the first 50% of the transition. This is where most new wizard skaters can come unstuck, by not being comfortable/fluent enough in their backward skating or backward parallel turns. These Gazelles are all shown “cusped” which means I’m using the rocker on the @nnskates frame to rock to the back wheels during the moment of the transition to forwards, allowing the ‘cusp’ shape to enter the circle. If you are skating on a flat set up then creating this cusp shape is a little more challenging but you can compensate by ‘flipping’ the transition by lifting all but the heel wheel from the ground to flip to forwards. But still try to create the cusp shape so the transition doesn’t end up being on a straight line and loosing it’s wizard curviness.Want more help with your wizard skating?
