We followed Ben before the Paris Roller Marathon. We see Ben cruising on his favourite Twister Edge skates, and switching to the all Endurace speed skates for the marathon. After a good nights rest and some power food Ben felt great and finished in 1:10:39
This was the last big race of the season for the Rollerblade World Team. The book of 2017 is almost closed now, and it finishes on a good note. Guillaume de Mallevoue took third place behind two world champions, Ewen Fernandez (in 2015) and Nolan Beddiaf (2017).
In sunny conditions and warm temperatures, the first Marathon Rollers of Paris was won in a very fast time 1hr (average speed of 40km/h – 26.2mph). The long straight lines of the Parisian avenues are perfect for inline skating, even if it was tricky sometimes, with tiny roads and stones. In the race, Guillaume did a perfect job behind a very strong Ewen Fernandez. He managed to open a gap with another skater and was on his way to take the silver, when a motorcycle stopped urgently. The stop of the motorcycle obliged the Rollerblade skater to break and to re-accelerate. But that permitted Nolan Beddiaf to come back too…
Quentin Giraudeau, Brayan Garzon and Aura Quintana also competed in Paris. They finished in the Top 20 of their categories with a strong effort.
In addition to some great racing, many of the Rollerblade office employees participated to the 42k. Taïg Khris, the French living legend of our sport made it out to get in on the fun with the crew!
It is good to see the team on the podium again, especially under the shadow of the Eiffel Tower. Now we move on to 2018 to re-accelerate again.
Push-button adjustability, comfort and great control and style ensure the right performing components are fully utilized and enjoyed for first time skaters.
This year we have send 3 of our European rockstars to the Berlin Marathin. The rockstar team was formed by:
Marco Gerris: artistic leader of dance collective ISH
Jeremy Suarez: street athlete
Danny Aldridge: urban athlete and Rollerblade video host
These 3 cool guys have been on skates since the early 90’s, Jeremy skated the Berlin Marathon last year and beat his time with 3minutes. Marco and Danny did their first marathon and were very impressed and overwhelmed. Finishing a marathon gives a feeling of euphoria, although it all starts with a big smile it is hard work, but is pays off as you reach your goal.
Danny managed to freeskate Berlin in the same weekend, he would have be accompanied by Jeremy, but unfortunately his bag with skates got stuck at the airport. Luckily Jeremy managed to skate the marathon
Check out the video with Marco, Jeremy and Danny where they share their great experience of riding the marathon, travelling to another city, skating though Berlin, having a good laugh at the after party and most of all having fun the whole weekend.
Times:
Danny: 1:27:37
Jeremy 1:34:57
Marco: 1:50.55
