AuthenticRollerbladeCityExplorer Rotterdam | Episode 6
from AuthenticRollerblade on 4 Aug 2014

CityExplorer is a video project in which Jeremy Suarez (26) from Belguim, Timmy v. Rixtel (27) from Holland and Sofi Carreras (28) from Argentina are exploring 7 cities on their Rollerblade Maxxum’s, while meeting up with friends and seeing what the cities have to offer. Their 6th stop was Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Previous cities visited were Dubai, Luxemburg, Innsbruck, Valencia and Marrakech.

Rotterdam, The Netherlands bursts with energy. A vibrant nightlife, diverse multiethnic community, an intensely interesting maritime tradition, and a wealth of top-class museums make it a must-see part of any visit to Holland. The largest port in Europe, and one of the busiest ports in the world, the port of Rotterdam was the world’s busiest port from 1962 to 2004, until it was surpassed by Shanghai.

Considered The Netherlands’ ‘second city’, Rotterdam was bombed flat during WWII and spent the following decades rebuilding. You won’t find much classic Dutch medieval center here – as it was unfortunately swept away along with the other rubble and detritus of war. However, in its place is an architectural aesthetic that’s unique in Europe, a progressive perpetual-motion approach to architecture that’s clearly a result of the city’s postwar, postmodern ‘anything goes’ philosophy.
And certainly enough reason for the CityExplorer crew to make their trip to the Netherland and explore.

The last CityExplorer, Episode 7, will be in Athens, Greece.
And stay tuned as we will show you CityExplorer the Movie later this year.
