“The reaction I get now thinking about it, looking back, is that the souls of the ghosts of those dead Indians… maybe one or two of ’em… were just running around freaking out, and just leaped into my soul. And they’re still in there.” This is an excerpt from a spoken word version of “Dawn’s Highway” by the late great Lizard King himself. During my past trip to Arizona, there was rarely a time when I was not thinking of Morrison, and I like to think that he helped inspire some of the ridiculous antics that took place during my time there. Days and days of whiskey and beer, meeting strangers around every corner, wandering through the desert alone, and simply getting into strange situations for the sake of living and feeling alive. In case you haven’t realized this by now, this edit contains no rollerblading, it’s simply a minute and a half glimpse into the weird lives we live when I happen to appear in the desert. Enjoy.”
