Erik RichardsonPrison ain’t for me
from Erik Richardson on 16 Oct 2014

my father wasn’t much of an example I guess
mother said son just do your best
don’t be like him and you can’t wrong
don’t be like him she said
and i… I did my best

for a while everybody i knew
said I was going to turn out just like you
alcohol, heroin, prison and cars
but prison aint for me
no prison aint for me.

You were never there to lend a hand
And when you were you couldn’t even stand
I grew up in homes that weren’t my own
It was hard growing up alone… But I… I did my best.

for a while everybody i knew
said I was going to turn out just like you
alcohol, heroin, prison and cars
but prison aint for me
no prison aint for me.

Now and then a day crawls by
when I can’t get you off my mind
Wish I could have seen you one last time
Wish I could have been there when you died
A final chance to say goodbye
to the man who gave me this here life
Without you I’d be nothing
inside my heart you’ll never die.
