Ramping and Camping (southernscum)

Schmidty’s Ramp, along with The Blade Museum, SVZ, & your favorite scumbags came together & organized the first annual Schmidty’s Ramp and Camp Mini Ramp Contest / Rail Jam. Held in West Lafayette, Indiana.

We wanted to get the real experience, so we spent 5 days RV traveling, late night partying, bond fire grilling, lake fishing, swimming, bathing. Most importantly ramp skating & down rail grinding.

The majority of our trip was captured on the skitch VX, & will all go to the Born Free Tour Video. But, I was able to whip out the old Death Lens App a couple of times to grab these magic moments.

Big shout out to Tim Schmidt & Savannah for once again allowing us to ransack their property & invite way too many people. Huge shout out to Cameron Card, Tad, Kazu Mori, & Lulu for giving everyone of us something to strive for. To see two families willing to risk so much, travel so far, all in the name of rollerblading is truly magical. You all deserve all the great things headed your way. Cameron, you are a ripper bud. Thanks for stopping by the RV for that session. We were honored. Congrats on the 1st place victory.

Thank you SRC for letting southernscum & company be part of such a memorable experience. From this point on, nothing will ever be the same. LONG LIVE ROLLERBLADING.

PS. Tim, sorry for paddling over the property line. Those Chicago heads always get me going!

What a tremendous way to say good bye to the summer!

STREET AGAIN // KY BATTLE (southernscum)

southernscumSTREET AGAIN // KY BATTLE
from southernscum on 5 Sep 2016

What would rollerblading be without the dedication of street contest(s)?

The Kentucky Battle began in year 2000. We just finished up the 16th-19th contest. Just as each year before it, things got messy. Though it was an injury free event, Philip Moore & fellow skater boys went extra hard.

Here’s a tiny bit of what happened at the last spot. The majority of my day was spent behind the lens of the V. The tour video will now have an entire section donated to the KY Battle. Maybe this week will be the week the tapes start getting imported. Prolly not though.

The Battle is a highlighted moment of the year for us. Every time, new faces show up & show out.

Shout out to to the Chicago skate scene for truly getting involved. It’s an honor to participate with you each. You’re great people. It was a treat to party with you all.

Shout out to Herben Legend for keeping the dream alive. Shout out out Born Free Tour for keeping us on the road. Shout out to every person that didn’t come to the event. Shout out to Rollernews for keeping our content rolling on the web.

Congrats on another 1st place victory Phil. Props on the solid 2nd & 3rd place pulls Austin & Ben.
